When four hunky lads find their journey to a stag do in Bali lost in an ash cloud, they end up in a cheap Spanish hotel.

And when male strip group the Wildboyz, booked for a hen party at the hotel, fail to turn up, the spotlight turns on the fab four to see if they can ‘rise to the occasion’.

This is the rather flimsy premise for a new show – Wildboyz! – aimed firmly at the ladies’ night market.

It stars cage fighter and Katie Price’s ex-husband Alex Reid (pictured), Danny Young, who played Warren Baldwin in Coronation Street and has competed in Dancing On Ice, Hollyoaks actor Marcus Patrick and Dale Howard, a former Big Brother housemate.

For Alex, it’s an opportunity to get back into acting, following previous film appearances.

“It’s great to be in front of audiences having a good time,” he says. “It’s fun and lighthearted. I don't take myself too seriously.”

How does his partner, model Chantelle Houghton, who shot to fame winning Celebrity Big Brother, feel about him stripping off for a bunch of whooping women every night?

“She’s fine with it,” says Alex. “She isn’t a jealous person, and it’s acting. I’ll miss her cuddles when I’m on tour, but she’s in my heart, wherever I am.”

He and the other cast members have been working out in preparation for their racy roles.

“I work out quite a lot, but I’ve stepped it up. Knowing you’re getting your kit off gives you a bit more incentive to push yourself harder. I don’t plan on being in any cage fights just before!” says Alex. “It’s a bit nerve racking – any bloke would be a bit self-conscious, wouldn’t they? But hey, you only live once, and me and the lads are all in the same boat.”

Wildboyz! is at St George’s Hall on Wednesday, April 25. For tickets, ring (01274) 432000.
