More people in Yorkshire should be able to spend their final days in a place of their choice and new Government funding will help to make this happen, Health Secretary Andrew Lansley (pictured) has announced.
He said the current system of end-of-life-care did not work well enough and a new, fairer funding system was needed.
However, essential information needed to develop a system didn’t exist. Now, eight pilot sites have been selected to gather this information, one of those receiving funding is NHS North Yorkshire.
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice and Marie Curie Cancer Care will be partners in the pilot scheme.
