Lucky Sandra Wilkinson has won £200 for a slap-up meal after her favourite curry house was voted Telegraph & Argus Readers’ Curry Restaurant of the Year.
Mrs Wilkinson, 69, and her husband Ron, 79, of Baildon, are regular Friday night diners at Shimla Spice in Shipley.
Yesterday the Wilkinsons were at the restaurant to see its owner Mohammed Akhtar receive the glass award. Mr Akhtar said: “We’ve won a lot of awards since we opened five years ago but this one means the most to us because it was our customers who made it happen.”
Mrs Wilkinson, who lectures in ancient history on cruise ships, said: “The only time we ever really miss our Fridays is if we’re away at sea”. Mrs Wilkinson’s name was chosen in a prize draw of readers who had nominated the winner.
