Queensbury’s Black Dyke Band swept to a sensational victory at Bradford’s St George’s Hall tonight to deny rivals Brighouse & Rastrick an historic hat-trick of Yorkshire championship titles.

Black Dyke produced a huge performance which had all the winning requirements to edge out national champions Brighouse.

Rothwell were placed third with Carlton Main fourth, Grimethorpe fifth and Skelmanthorpe sixth.

It was a memorable triumph for Black Dyke who were expertly conducted by Dr Nicholas Childs. And the best soloist award went to Sheona White of Black Dyke.

The instrumentalist award was won by Lucy Murphy, of Brighouse & Rastrick, and the best principal cornet prize went to Richard Marshall of Black Dyke to complete a great evening for the Queensbury band.
