A £1,680 donation has been served up to the Manorlands hospice at Oxenhope – thanks to auctions of pork pies and fodder hay.
The auctions were staged in conjunction with Skipton Auction Mart’s annual Christmas primestock shows and the Great Northern Pork Pie Fest.
A cheque was handed over to Manorlands fundraiser Matthew Binns by Craven Cattle Marts’ general manager and auctioneer Jeremy Eaton at the weekly produce sale of hay and straw.
Also present was John Duckett, who regularly sells hay at Skipton and supports the charity fodder auction.
Mr Eaton thanked all the farmers and butchers for backing the charity events.
And his gratitude was echoed by Andrew Wood, a fundraiser at the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.
He said: “Charity pork pie and hay auctions are among our more unusual fundraisers and we thank the regional agricultural community for its generosity.”
This year’s Christmas primestock shows and pork pie competition will take place on Sunday, November 25. Details of weekly produce sales of hay and straw, held every Monday, are posted the previous Friday at ccmauctions.com.
