Keighley Town Council is ready to take on the running of all Bradford Council’s car parks in the parish, a meeting heard.

Councillor Graham Mitchell, chairman of the town council’s transport committee, confirmed the committee believed it was realistic for the town council to take over all three of the facilities.

Committee members also agreed the town council should consider taking over the management of all grit bins in Keighley parish.

Coun Mitchell said if both steps were approved, the go-ahead would still depend on the town council coming to a suitable financial arrangement with Bradford. He stressed he was not yet formally proposing the measures, because they had to be considered by the management and staffing committee.

He said the town council was currently responsible for 30 grit bins, including 18 that were bought new and 11 taken over from the district council.
