Royal Mail’s decision to shut three of its delivery offices in the Bradford district has prompted calls for flexibility and clear communication with customers.
The company has confirmed it will close offices in Shipley, Bingley and Bradford West at Thornton, moving its operations to the Bradford North delivery office in Inkersley Road, as reported in yesterday’s Telegraph & Argus.
Robert Hammond, director of postal policy at Consumer Focus, said: “Clearly this will be a big change in postal provision for this area. Royal Mail needs to communicate clearly with everyone affected to ensure customer inconvenience is kept to a minimum.
“We would also call on Royal Mail to consider the needs of local people and be flexible in offering alternative arrangements for people to collect undelivered mail. The final collection time from the new delivery office also needs to be as late as possible – this would help businesses who may have to travel further.”
