An inquest heard how a pensioner who went into Bradford Royal Infirmary for a prostate operation died after a fall in the ward toilet.
John Ryan, 81, of Glen Road, Eldwick, was found collapsed on August 2 this year. He fractured his skull and suffered a bleed in his brain.
Recording a verdict of accidental death yesterday, acting Bradford coroner Professor Paul Marks described the fall as “a most unfortunate event”.
The cause of the fall was not known and could only be “speculative”, he said.
Despite medical support Mr Ryan deteriorated and died nine days later.
