Two people were taken to Airedale Hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation following a blaze in Eastburn early this morning.
They had escaped from a burning cottage in Main Road.
The man and woman were outside the property being dealt with by ambulance crews when firefighters, who received the call at 12.20am, arrived at the scene.
Two crews from Keighley fire station and one from Silsden attended.
Keighley watch commander Gary Davies said it was unclear initially whether there was anyone still inside the two-storey detached cottage.
“We sent in six firefighters with breathing apparatus,” he said.
“The fire was at its fiercest in the living room area but flames were going up the staircase.”
The building was extensively damaged.
Fire investigators are at the scene trying to establish the cause of the fire.
