Work is due to start on a £600,000 project to install an underground waste water storage tank to reduce the risk of flooding at a number of Shipley properties.
Yorkshire Water’s contract partners Mott MacDonald Bentley will begin work on Monday to install the tank, capable of holding 650,000 litres of waste water – roughly the equivalent of 8,000 baths.
The work, which is expected to be completed by May, is part of Yorkshire Water’s £120 million investment to upgrade its sewer network and treatment facilities.
The tank will be installed in the grounds of Shipley Catholic Men’s Society, off Bradford Road, near the junction with Marlborough Road. Mott MacDonald Bentley will also be upsizing the sewer on Avondale Road and Back Bradford Road and installing a new sewer overflow in Avondale Road.
The investment is hoped to benefit hundreds off customers at risk of sewer flooding.
