This is the bird's-eye view of how one of Bradford’s newest buildings is taking shape.

This aerial view of work in progress at Appleton Academy, in Wyke, shows just how close the £24.15 million building is getting to completion.

Set to open in October this year and sponsored by Bradford College, the building will provide places for more than 1,400 pupils.

Appleton Academy’s Principal Dwayne Saxton claims builders are sticking to their schedule with major elements of the 11,000 square metre structure now completed, including the steel frame and internal floors.

The sweeping and sloping roof, already nicknamed the “rollercoaster”, is also taking shape at the academy, which will be the first through-age school in the region sponsored by a Further Education college.

Mr Saxton said: “It is tremendous that the new academy is taking shape and the building looks stunning. The students are very excited at the prospect of the moving there in October.”
