A Neighbourhood Policing Team in Bradford is using its Facebook page to urge people to make New Year’s resolutions to combat crime.
Officers in the Horton NPT have also been posting postcards through doors in the Scholemoor, Great Horton and Lidget Green areas encouraging people to make crime prevention resolutions for the New Year to reduce the risk of burglary.
They include making sure packaging for expensive gadgets are recycled or thrown away, keeping valuables out of sight, keeping doors and windows locked even when in the house, and not leaving keys in the door or window lock.
People are also urged to use a timer to leave a light on when out, ensuring that lights come on at different times. “Most burglaries are not planned,” a spokesman said. “You can prevent, deter and reduce the opportunity by following our advice.”
