Burglars who broke into a Bradford supermarket early today were given a shock after the store started filling with smoke.
The burglars managed to escape from Asda in Canterbury Avenue after breaking in and triggering a so-called “smoke cloak”, and anti-theft device which pumps out smoke when activated.
Police and firefighters were alerted by the store’s alarm system at 2.30am and carried out a search of the supermarket and the surrounding area but the burglars had fled.
Scenes of Crimes Officers attended the scene and further investigations by police were being carried out today.
