A state-of-the-art chemical engineering laboratory has opened at the University of Bradford, which has reinstated the course after stopping it nearly a decade ago.
Professor William Wilkinson, former president of the Institute of Chemical Engineers and former director of British Nuclear Fuels, opened the Wilkinson Chemical Engineering Laboratory, named in his honour yesterday.
Professor Wilkinson, a former head of department of chemical engineering at the university between 1967 and 1979, was joined by the university’s vice chancellor, Professor Mark Cleary, and Professor Sir William Wakeham, president of the Institute of Chemical Engineers, at the opening.
The university committed to invest in the development of a new laboratory after reinstating the chemical engineering course in January.
