Flamenco and rock ‘n’ roll were among the dance styles being tried out today by more than 200 people at a foot-tapping fundraiser in Saltaire.
The 35th Day of Dance raised funds for Oxfam, the Yorkshire Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and the Campaign Against the Arms Trade. A family ceilidh raised money for the Chernobyl Children’s Project.
Event organiser Denise Craghill, who works for Yorkshire CND, said a “good number of people” were enjoying themselves at the event at Victoria Hall.
“I think it’s a good community event and it does draw people from quite a wide area,” she said. “People come from all over Yorkshire and Lancashire and even further afield.
“It’s a lovely place to visit, Saltaire, so I think that helps.
“It’s a fun event and a good atmosphere, people can try out new dances and there’s no pressure."
