Pupils at a Bradford primary school enjoyed a taste of the southern states during a visit by guitarist and singer Eugene ‘Hideaway’ Bridges.
Eugene, who hails from Hoston, Texas, but spends most of the year on the road, visited Sandy Lane Primary School as part of the Blues in Schools programme, organised by the Bronte Blues Club in Keighley.
Eugene, who claims to have inherited his voice from his mother – a cousin of Tina Turner – received two nominations for the prestigious Blues Music Awards ‘Blues Oscars’ last year.
He entertained children at the school while emphasising how music can unite people of different ages, nationaility and ethnicities.
The school has previously enjoyed visits by Toby Walker and The Producers as part of the Blues in Schools programmme.
