A jealous former boyfriend threatened to cut off the penis of an amateur footballer who had gone home with his ex-girlfriend after they met while out in Skipton, a Court was told.

Daniel Brown, 20, of Regent Avenue, Skipton, had heard his girlfriend Danielle Heaton had met Alex Trevors, of Steeton, on April 2 this year, the same day the couple had broken up.

He went with her brother, Ryan Heaton, 22, of Greatwood Avenue, Skipton, and burst into Miss Heaton’s house, in Simbach Close, Skipton, where the pair attacked Mr Trevors, who plays in goal for Cowling Football Club’s second team.

Brown and Heaton had been due to face trial yesterday but at that hearing pleaded guilty to wounding Mr Trevors with intent. Brown also pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm to Miss Heaton.

The pair have been warned they face jail, for what Judge Peter Benson described as a “serious offence”.

At yesterday’s hearing, at Bradford Crown Court, Brown’s barrister Robin Frieze said his client had punched Mr Trevors five or six times. Heaton also attacked Mr Trevors, kicking him while he was on the floor, the court heard.

The attack was a joint enterprise, prosecutor Geraldine Kelly told the court today.

She said: “The defendant Mr Brown said to police in interview that he did pick up the knife, his intention to cut off the complainant’s penis, but he changed his mind.”

The guilty pleas were entered yesterday on the basis that injuries to Mr Trevors’ back were not caused by a knife, but by him falling onto broken glass.

Brown and Heaton will be sentenced on November 3, on the basis that a knife was not used to inflict any of the wounds.
