Police today released new images in a bid to identify and lay to rest a mystery man whose body was found in Baildon three months ago.

Photographs of the watch and clothing the dead man was wearing when found were issued in the hope someone will recognise who they belong to.

Burial of the man, and an inquest into his death, have not yet been held while efforts are ongoing to try and identify him.

His body was found in woodland between Tong Park Industrial Estate and Hollins Hall, Baildon, on Tuesday, June 28.

Police are treating it as a sudden death, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Officers have been unable to trace relatives and nobody matching the man’s description has been reported missing in West Yorkshire.

The issuing of the new images follows the release of artist’s impressions of distinctive tattoos on the body of the white man.

He is believed to have been aged between 25 and 45. He was slim, 5ft 9in and weighed about ten stones.

When found, he was wearing a blue chequered Airwalk zip-up jacket, a red, blue and cream horizontally striped Hot Oil branded T-shirt, dark blue Adidas tracksuit bottoms, and silver and grey Nike 90 trainers.

The distinctive tattoos were a large American Indian on his upper right arm, and a large Viking on his left upper arm.

He was also wearing a blue plastic watch with the wording Planet Vodka of Poland on the face.

Detective Inspector Richard Partis said: “We have carried out wide-ranging inquiries to try and identify this man since last June and are continuing to appeal to residents to help provide the missing piece of the jigsaw we need.

“Even if he was not originally from the area, it is likely this man would have worked or lived in the Bradford district, and I would appeal to anyone who may recognise the clothing or tattoos to come forward.”

Anyone who has any information should contact Detective Sergeant Steve Wedge on (01535) 617059.
