Businesses, community groups and organisations in Bradford district have been invited to the official launch of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Bradford Council, working with the West Yorkshire Lieutenancy Office, is hosting an event on Tuesday, October 4, in City Hall.

More than 200 people from across the district are expected to discuss how we should celebrate the historic occasion in Bradford.

Next year the Queen will have been on the throne for 60 years and a series of events have been planned nationally, including an extra bank holiday on Tuesday, June 5. Celebrations are expected to include street parties, a service led by the Archbishop of York at Bradford Cathedral, beacon lighting, bell-ringing, a special event in Centenary Square and school activities.

More information about the Diamond Jubilee celebrations can be found at bradford.gov.uk/queensdiamondjubilee. A Facebook page will be set up shortly.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Naveeda Ikram, said: “We have invited local businesses, groups and organisations to get their views on how the Diamond Jubilee should be celebrated in the district.”

They will discuss setting up a community fund to help sponsor Diamond Jubilee events.
