Changes have been made to the senior leadership of Dixons City Academy, in Ripley Street, Bradford.

A letter has been sent to parents by Sir James Hill, chairman of Governors.

It reveals that Nick Weller (above), previously the principal of Dixons City Academy, has been asked to take on the role of Executive Principal across the growing group of Dixons Academies. Meanwhile, Shirley Watson has taken up the role of Principal at Dixons City Academy.

The letter said: “We believe this arrangement will enable Dixons to develop its role in leading education both nationally and locally, whilst at the same time ensuring the continuing high standard and quality of education which has always been offered by the Academy.”

It continued: “This year, as well as being involved with Dixons Allerton, Nick will be spending one day per week as Chief Executive of the Bradford Partnership, an exciting initiative where Bradford Secondary Schools have come together to support each other in driving up standards across the city.”

“Moreover, with over 1,250 applications for 165 places Nick has also been working on two bids to the Department for Education to open two further Dixons schools, one a secondary and one a primary. We are hopeful that at least one of these projects will gain approval.”
