Residents have been having a say over the final stone in Thackley’s Sculpture Trail.
Villagers were invited by Artworks Creative Communities to meet writer Irene Lofthouse to work on ideas for the last sculpture in the trail which will stand in the new Thackley Community Garden, opposite the cricket club on the corner of Ainsbury Avenue.
The idea was to give people the chance to see the existing stone carvings from the trail, learn more about the project, find out about the Friends of Buck Wood group and the area’s history.
The previous carvings on the Trail were interpreted by local sculptor Ian Taylor from ideas formed at design sessions with the Friends of Buck Wood, where the Thackley Open air School (pictured) was located, pupils at Thackley School and Immanuel College.
