A parade of 200 vintage vehicles, including more than a dozen from Bradford, will be travelling through the city this weekend.

Steam wagons, buses, lorries, vans and military vehicles are to take part in the 43rd Trans Pennine Run from Heywood to Harrogate on Sunday.

Entrants to the event from the Bradford district include a double-deck London Routemaster bus, a 1986 Dodge Commando beavertail flat truck, a 1950s Bedford minibus and a 1920 Fowler steam traction engine.

The parade, run by the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society, will see the vehicles depart at 7.30am from Birch Services on the M62 and travel through Northowram, Bradford, Shipley, Guiseley, Otley and Pool before arriving in Harrogate from 10.30am.

Roy Dodsworth, of Hollingwood Lane, Bradford, a member of the society, said: “For families and kids it’s a bit of nostalgia when they are all passing.”

* This month will also see more than 60 vehicles on display at the sixth Bradford Classic car show in Centenary Square.

The event, on Saturday, August 20, will also include a collection of vintage police vehicles.

A continental market will run on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the same weekend.
