Yorkshire Water says it has done everything it can “as a gesture of goodwill” to help residents beset by problems with their private water supply pipe.

People living in a street in Oxenhope, near Keighley, were left with little or no running water earlier this summer and are fearful the problems will re-occur this winter, when many of the elderly people on the street are at their most vulnerable.

Yorkshire Water said it had carried out four repairs on the corroded, leaking pipe in Best Lane, even though this pipe is not owned by the Bradford-based water company.

Oakworth resident Heather Langthorne, who had contacted the firm on behalf of her elderly mother who lives in Best Lane, said six homes had no running water upstairs for two weeks.
