Members of a Bradford family have gathered from around the world to pay tribute to their loved ones with a box of seats dedicated to them at the Alhambra.
Ten years ago, Veronica Salmon Cocchiaraley had a box above the stage named after her parents, after reading about Bradford Theatres’ Name a Seat scheme – enabling people to buy a personalised engraving on a seat, box or row of seats in the auditiorium – in the Telegraph & Argus.
Now she has had another box dedicated to the memory of her brother, Peter Salmon, grandmother, Annie Coyne, and aunt, Norah Coyne.
Yesterday Veronica, who has travelled from her home in New York, joined sisters Christine Martin, who lives in New Zealand, and Patricia Featherstone and brother Dominick Salmon, who both live in Bradford, at the Alhambra to see the plaques.
“We were born and brought up in Bradford and as children from the 1940s we came to the Alhambra pantomime every year with our dear Aunt Norah.
“When my sisters became involved with the Bradford Catholic Players I enjoyed seeing them in shows here,” said Veronica.
“I read the T&A online and when I saw the Name a Seat scheme I thought it would be a lovely way of remembering my parents. When our brother, Peter, died last November I decided to purchase another plaque.”
