An apprentice joiner has won an award for his burgeoning skills.
Adam Ives, from Roberttown, Liversedge, beat off competition from 50 other students at his college to be crowned Best Second-Year Site Joinery Apprentice.
The 18-year-old is currently studying for an NVQ at Kirklees College and has worked as an apprentice in the University of Huddersfield’s estates and facilities department for more than two years.
“It was great to win the award,” said Adam. “Most of my family have worked in the building industry but I decided to specialise in joinery because I enjoyed woodwork and design and technology at school.”
He is now completing the third year of his NVQ, which has included subjects such as project management and quantity surveying.
