The growing number of derelict pubs in Bradford is blighting the city and posing a major hazard for children, community leaders have warned.
Dozens of pubs in the district have closed during the past decade and several have been targeted by vandals and arsonists.
But Bradford Council leader, Ian Greenwood, said it was difficult for the authority to take over the properties due to the cost of making compulsory purchase orders.
One of the city’s derelict pubs, the New Inn in Manchester Road, which has been targeted by thieves and vandals since it was put up for sale in 2007, is situated in the Little Horton ward he represents.
