Bradford Council has formally declared its election will take place on Thursday, May 5, with a seat in each of the district’s 30 wards up for grabs.

The local authority is being run by the Labour group but it has no overall control and the party is supported by the Liberal Democrats.

The Tories will see the election as a chance to regain ground on Labour which has 13 seats up for re-election compared to the ten it is defending.

Five Liberal Democrat seats and one each held by the Greens and the British National Party are to be contested.
