A military band and an award-winning choir will perform at a major concert at Bradford Cathedral to raise funds for an armed forces’ charity.

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, formerly the Army Benevolent Fund, will host the evening event, which will feature The Band of The Yorkshire Volunteers and Bingley Ladies Choir Opus 44.

The Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, who is patron of the band, will attend the concert, along with Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Peter Hill and his wife, Gillian.

Coun Hill said: “The city of Bradford has given the freedom of the city to the Yorkshire Regiment and to the Parachute Regiment.

“I’m extremely glad to see the public are aware of what the armed forces are doing.”

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity supports veterans of the Second World War and those suffering as a result of service in other conflicts, including the war in Afghanistan. The concert is supported by Soroptimist International, whose members will provide refreshments.

Tickets to the concert, on Saturday, April 2, from 7pm, cost £10. Booking is advised, by phoning the cathedral on (01274) 777720 or the charity on (01904) 442868.
