If you’re 14 or younger, and footloose and fancy free, get yourself along to open auditions for Keighley Amateurs’ production of Footloose. The society is bringing the Eighties movie to the stage this October and open auditions – the Footloose Bootcamp – will be held on Sunday, March 20, for principal and supporting roles.

Featuring anthems including Holding Out For A Hero, Let’s Hear It For the Boy and the catchy title track, Footloose is set in a small town where dancing is banned, until city boy Ren shakes things up.

Auditions will be at Slack Lane Baptist Church Studio, Oakworth, from 1.30pm. Performers won’t need audition material, but they do need to be 14 years old before July 31.

Keighley Amateurs has a strong group of youngsters but is also seeking new young members, as the show requires a large cast. Adult roles will be cast later.

Director Jay Livingstone says: “Just come along and bring your enthusiasm – the production team will do the rest!

“There is a re-make of the film out this year and a national professional production touring. We were lucky to get permission to stage an amateur version.”
