Police have warned the Bradford public not to approach a “dangerous sexual predator” who has gone on the run after breaching the terms of his licence following his release from jail.

Scott Sorby, 20, failed to return to the bail hostel in Cleckheaton where he was ordered to stay and police are urging anyone who sees him to contact them immediately.

Detective Inspector Simon Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said last night: “He was jailed for an offence of a violent nature, and we are keen to speak with anyone who has any information about his current whereabouts.

“Bearing in mind the offences for which he was arrested, the public should not approach him, but if they see him they should contact the police.”

Sorby was last seen at the hostel in Bradford Road, Cleckheaton, at 8am, last Friday. He is wanted on recall for breaching his licence by failing to reside there.

Sorby, formerly of Binns Lane, Lidget Green, was jailed for four and a half years in June 2008 after he was convicted of attempted rape.

Sorby is described as white, of medium build, pale, with short dark cropped hair, and speaks with a local accent.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Det Insp Atkinson urgently on 0845 6060606.
