Bradford teenager Adam Glennon has picked up a top award and a royal fan for his services to volunteering.

The 19-year-old, of Eccleshill, has been named as a regional winner in the vinspired national awards acknowledging the extraordinary achievements of volunteers aged 16-25 across England.

Adam, who got involved in volunteering before starting an apprenticeship with Bradford’s Inclusion Project setting up leisure and recreational activities for children with disabilities, was awarded the regional Spirit Award.

He is a Youth Action Team Member in Bradford and acts as an ambassador to promote volunteering to young people at school, careers events and university freshers’ fairs.

And he recently spent ten weeks volunteering in Nepal where he helped build a local school.

Announcing the winners, Prince William said: “The winners of the vinspire National Awards highlight the diverse range of volunteering opportunities that are available to young people. “The awards showcase what can be achieved when young people apply their remarkable energies and determination. They also demonstrate the enormously positive contribution 16-to-25 year-olds can make to our society through volunteering.”

Adam will now go through to the national finals in January with the winners being revealed at a ceremony in March.

He said “Winning the award was a shock and an amazing achievement. I have been lucky to have the opportunity to help people in a less fortunate position than myself.”
