Schoolchildren have sown the seeds for a yellow flourish of flowers come springtime – and all in the name of charity.
Sarah Ali and Phong Hoang were among pupils at Princeville Primary School in Willowfield Street, Bradford, who planted 135 daffodil bulbs in the school’s grounds.
A former pupil, Roger Mitchell, now manager of Focus DIY in Shipley, rallied to the school’s call for donations by providing the bulbs. When the flowers bloom in the new year pupils will pluck them and sell them off for Mother’s Day presents. Proceeds will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care to help fund its Bradford hospice.
