A post-war romance that flourished in one of the district’s textile mills is still going strong six decades later.
Arthur and Edna Atkinson are marking their diamond wedding anniversary today. Mr Atkinson, 89, attributed their relationship’s success to having a good sense of humour.
The pair have lived in Westburn Avenue, Keighley, for nearly 20 years and were both born in the town.
Mr Atkinson met his wife, 84, at Hind Priestley mill, in Ingrow, shortly after the end of the war.
The pair, who have two sons and a daughter, were married at St Joseph’s Church, Ingrow, and Mr Atkinson continued working at Hind Priestley until he retired.
