Eight groups are celebrating after successfully applying for funding from the Shipley Health and Wellbeing Grant Scheme.

The grants of up to £1,000 will enable them to carry out healthy living activities.

Applications are now open for the final round of funding in the scheme, which is available to all volunteer-led groups in the Shipley constituency.

The grants are funded by the Shipley Area Committee and managed by HALE, a local charity, in partnership with Cnet.

Ruth Weston, of Choices in Childbirth, successfully applied for £1,000 for a community birthing pool scheme.

She said: “This grant will enable us to offer home waterbirths to women who would not otherwise be able to afford a birthing pool.

“Applying for the grant was a lot easier than I thought and I received plenty of encouragement and support. I’d encourage any group working on health and well-being in Shipley to apply.”

Other organisations who successfully applied for funding were Bingley Rotary Club for a young chefs event at Beckfoot School, Cullingworth Keep Fit, Redbeck Allotments Association, St Ives Riding for the Disabled, The Peaselands Gentleman’s Club, Upbeat Bradford North heart support group and Wrose Bowling Club.

The deadline for the final round of applications for the scheme is noon on Friday, December 3.
