Muriel Johnson was today celebrating her 100th birthday with her family and friends in Baildon.
Mrs Johnson has lived in the Bradford district for the last decade, after moving to the area to be close to her family.
Her son Tony, 71, of Baildon, said: “She has a go at the crossword every morning in the paper. Her brain is still very active.
“For the last month she has been saying she should have a red carpet for her birthday.
“She’s really looking forward to it. It really will be super.”
A Londoner, Mrs Johnson spent her younger years working as a nursemaid and then at the Civil Service Stores department store where she met her husband John.
She retired to Devon but then moved to Wibsey, Bradford, in 2000 where she lived until 2008. She now lives at Grange Court Care Home, Station Road, Baildon.
Mrs Johnson has one son, Tony, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
