Plucky Edward Webster swam and ran in an Iron Kid event to raise £1,400 for a neonatal unit where his life was saved 12 years ago.
Edward, of Queensbury, spent three months on the unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital after being born prematurely at 28 weeks weighing only 2lbs.
He travelled to Nice in France where he competed with hundreds of others in the 150m swim and 1,200m run challenge.
His mum Marie said: “Edward said he wanted to give something back to thank the unit for saving his life. He’s never done anything like this before.”
Edward’s dad, Jeremy, who runs an insurance brokers in Brighouse, also completed the senior Iron Man Triathlon event.
Sister Kath Barnes said: “We are very grateful for their support and it is great to see Edward doing so well.”
