A woman was airlifted to hospital today following the second crash in as many days at an accident blackspot.

The woman is understood to have suffered serious injuries in the head-on crash, which happened on the A629 Halifax Road, near Cullingworth, at about 2.30pm today.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene and road closures were in place as the woman was airlifted to hospital.

Today’s accident comes only 24 hours after two men and two women were taken to hospital following a crash at the same spot.

Last month, a 58-year-old Halifax woman died in hospital after the Ford Focus she was driving was in collision with a lorry there.

After today’s accident, police put cordons in place at the Flappit Springs crossroads and on Halifax Road, near Denholme.

Traffic from Denholme was diverted to Manywells Brow, through Cullingworth and along Haworth Road.
