Sarah Gate has been at the frontline of fundraising for Pakistan flood victims since the natural disaster struck but now the 22-year-old press and media manager for Bradford-based Basic Human Rights is going one step further.

Sarah yesterday joined colleagues at the Sunbridge Road office on a Ramadan fast in the hope of bringing in sponsorship.

She said: “I’ve never fasted before and just four hours into it, I was already feeling the strain.

“Nothing can pass your lips from dawn to dusk – not even water.

“I just felt I needed to do more physically to help the people out there who have lost everything and are starving hungry.

“My fasting can in no way compare to what they are going through but it is my way of showing personal support.

“I hope people will leave messages of encouragement when they donate online.”
