Visitors to Bradford’s Centenary Square will be “amazed” at what is in store for them as the week-long Garden Magic event opens on Saturday.

A magical maze will transform the heart of the city as part of the annual event which runs until Saturday, August 14.

The maze, which features bizarre characters, is created by the dotComedy company and combines details from fairytales, myths, comedy, art and landscape.

The maze will be open daily from 12.30pm until 2pm, 3pm until 4.30pm and 5.30pm until 6.30pm, except for Sunday when it will be open 12.30pm until 2pm and 3pm until 4.30pm.

Admission to the maze is free and a limited number of people will be allowed in at one time. It is suitable for all ages and is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

The event is one of a range of events in the district to celebrate the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity.

And the Garden Magic is one of many events that could in future be held in the new City Park which is taking shape around Centenary Square.

Councillor the Reverend Paul Flowers, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder with responsibility for culture, planning and housing, said: “Garden Magic is always one of our most popular city centre events and this year we are sure people will enjoy the fun and mystery of the maze.”
