Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a 14-year-old girl in a Keighley park.

A man approached the girl at the Park Avenue entrance to Lund Park and tried to speak to her before walking off.

Minutes later he walked back up to her and grabbed her. The terrified girl managed to struggle free and alerted a passer-by.

The man then fled to the Selborne Grove exit of the park.

Detectives at Airedale and North Bradford CID have urged anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

The assailant was described as Asian, in his late 20s with dark skin reddening at his eyes and short dark hair.

He was of slim build and average height, and was wearing dark blue jeans, a blue-checked shirt and white trainers.

The man was also described as having a thick Asian accent and, when first speaking to the girl, told her he was from Bangladesh and lived in Keighley.

The assault happened at about 5.45pm on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Ryan Bragg, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said: “We know there were people in the park at the time who would have spotted this man and I would ask anyone who recognises this individual’s description or who saw a man acting suspiciously or running towards Selborne Grove to contact Detective Constable Charlotte Grose on 0845 6060606.”

Alternatively, witnesses can pass on information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
