Three police officers have been praised for helping save the life of a woman who fell into Skipton canal.
The 50-year-old woman fell from a boat and was helped out by a 17-year-old girl. The teenager called the police when the woman fell from the deck again and did not emerge.
Skipton PC Andy Woolley jumped into the canal, and using a rope, brought the woman, who was not breathing, to the surface.
Sergeant Paul Evans and PC Andy Bell immediately administered CPR before the woman was taken to Airedale Hospital by ambulance.
Chief Inspector Barry Smith, of the Craven Safer Neighbourhood Team, praised the bravery and quick thinking of his officers and thanked the young woman who called for help.
The 50-year-old woman last night remained critically ill in hospital after the incident, on Saturday, at 7pm.
