Disabled youngsters have made history by taking part in the first game of table cricket to be played at Lords Cricket Ground.
Pupils at Beckfoot School, Bingley, finished an impressive eighth out of 60 teams who took part in The Lord’s Taverners National Table Cricket Competition.
The Taverners is celebrating its diamond jubilee and will donate £3 million to help give young people a sporting chance.
Table cricket is played on a table tennis surface with bespoke bats, balls, fielders and boundaries designed to give young people with disabilities and special needs the chance to enjoy the game of cricket.
Judith Dyson, team manager at Beckfoot School, said: “The game is fantastic in providing a competitive sport which can be accessed by our disability pupils as well as providing amazing experiences like the final here at Lord’s Cricket Ground.”
