Leeds have signed Argentinian left back Frederico Bessone from Swansea City.
The 26-year-old defender has agreed a three-year deal and is Simon Grayson’s fourth summer signing.
The United boss said: “I watched him last year. He’s very comfortable on the ball and will be a good acquisition.
“He’s a good age, speaks good English and was part of a Swansea side that did well.’ Meanwhile, Leeds have learned that their first Carling Cup tie will bring League Two outfit Lincoln City to Elland Road in the week commencing August 9.
It will be the Imps’ first visit since 1961 – and they have not won at Leeds since 1954.
Last season they avoided relegation to non-league football mainly thanks to the goals of Davide Somma.
The on-loan United striker has since returned to Elland Road but will miss the tie because of a three-match ban after a sending off.
Max Gradel will also miss the tie because he will be serving a four-match ban for a red card in Leeds’ last game of the season against Bristol Rovers and his initial refusal to leave the pitch.
