A Bradford primary school will learn soon whether its bid to build the country’s first learning park of its kind is successful – despite Sport England objecting to it.
Councillors will consider an application for the outdoor learning arena on a sports field at Lower Fields Primary School, East Bowling, this week.
But they must decide whether to uphold the objection from sporting body Sport England. If so, the matter will be referred to a further committee.
The school has spent five years planning the open-air space, which would be bordered on three sides by tall, steep grass mounds and on the fourth side by trees. It would be used by children as a sport and drama centre.
A report to Bradford Council’s area planning panel for Bradford says Sport England objects because it would mean the loss of part of a playing field. Planners are recommending that the panel refer the matter to the regulatory and appeals committee if they wish to approve it.
The meeting is on Thursday at 9.45am in City Hall.
