One of the most well-known properties in Ilkley is up for sale with a price tag of almost £3 million.
Heathcote, a Grade II listed mansion, in King’s Road, is a rare northern example of the work of renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens.
Heathcote was built in 1906 as a family home, and stands within its own 2.88-acre grounds, complete with ornamental gardens and ancillary buildings.
It is believed the house could return to its original use as a family home.
The building has been used as offices by Ilkley-based building supplies and services company NG Bailey since the late 1950s. The firm recently moved out.
Estate agent Dacre, Son and Hartley is marketing the property with a guide price of £2.95 million.
Patrick McCutcheon, of Dacres, said: “Whilst Heathcote is unquestionably a magnificent building, the property and its annexed cottages are simply not suitable for the office requirements of a modern business organisation, thus NG Bailey have consolidated their operations to Denton Hall.
“I am expecting considerable interest in the property in part because, subject to planning, it offers a very rare opportunity for a family to re-establish a magnificent home within the town.”
