A Bradford MP is calling for control zones to be introduced to protect prostitutes.
Bradford South MP Gerry Sutcliffe (pictured) said the issues were complex and many people held different views but it was clear action needed to be taken.
Control zones where prostitution is legal in a specific area would allow the women to be monitored and offered help if they wanted it, he said.
Mr Sutcliffe said: “Control zones would make it safer for women who choose to work as prostitutes and also offer a route out for those caught up in it.
I understand it is a sensitive issue with many different views but we cannot go on like this and now need to address the issue.
“This is the second occasion in Bradford where something like this has happened with women involved in the sex industry. As a consequence it damages the image of the city and it is not just a Bradford problem, but national and international.
