Youngsters with disabilities at a Bingley school are set to take part in the fourth regional heat of a table cricket competition this week.

They will be competing for the chance to play in the final of the Lord’s Taverners National Table Cricket Competition at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Table cricket, which is played on a table tennis surface with specially-designed bats and balls, enables young people with disabilities and special needs to enjoy the game of cricket and represent their school on a competitive basis.

The competition is now in its 12th year, with 500 youngsters representing 50 teams from across the UK in a series of regional heats each.

The Yorkshire round will see pupils at Beckfoot School, Bingley, compete against schools from Morley, Barnsley, York and Leeds tomorrow at Headingley Cricket Ground.
