Back in 1958, a promising singer/guitarist called Mark Newman (pictured) made his folk club debut at Bradford’s Topic Club.
On Thursday he returns to the Topic, now based at the Irish Club in Rebecca Street, for his last UK concert.
He said: “I am really looking forward to playing at the Topic one last time, especially as it was at the Topic that I began my career.
“There is always a great atmosphere. I am hoping that many friends and colleagues will come to what will be a very special evening for me.”
Mark, who now lives in south-west France with his wife Mo, used to teach at Denholme and Haworth primary schools.
He will continue to play in France, being the organiser of the Cahors Folk Club.
l Mark Newman’s final Topic show starts at 8.30pm.
