For the second time in four weeks, the West Riding County Amateur League was severely disrupted by the weather.

At the beginning of March, it was the snow and ice that caused the postponement of all but four of the games. On Saturday, it was heavy overnight rain that had a devastating effect on the league programme.

Also postponed were the Mumtaz Premier Division Cup semi-final between Campion and Halifax Irish at Brighouse Town and the Division Two Cup semi-final at Ardsley Celtic where Crag Road United and Hunsworth were due to meet.

Of the games that were played, Ventus Yeadon continued their charge towards the one automatic promotion place remaining in Division Two with a 6-3 thrashing of one-time promotion favourites Overthorpe.

A Terry Hargreaves hat-trick, two goals from Alex Cusack and an own goal kept them in touch with rivals Westbrook YMCA. who had their own hat-trick hero in Rob Carr as they accounted for Barclays 4-1.

Brighouse Town consolidated their third place in the Premier Division after beating Hemsworth Miners Welfare 3-1 in the only top flight game to kick off. Tom Wright and Rob Malone put Town into a 2-0 half-time advantage. Paul Manton pulled one back for the Miners before Ian Hudson scored to make the points safe.

Four games in the reserve sections managed to get a result.

In Division One, Bay Athletic pushed visitors Keighley Shamrocks nearer to relegation with a 6-0 victory, and Storthes Hall beat Hemsworth 3-2.

In Division Two, Salts went down 4-2 at home to leaders Otley Town, while Farnley's 5-1 victory condemned pointless Barclays to a 13th successive defeat. Two games played during the last week saw Tyersal Reserves lose their West Riding County FA Trophy semi-final 2-1 against Halifax League side Golden Lion.

And Golcar United, who were hoping to make it an all-County Amateur League affair in the final of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup, had their dreams dashed. West Yorkshire Division One side Sherburn White Rose beat them 2-1 on Friday night.

The postponements of the two Premier Division Cup semi-finals could have a bearing on when the final will be played. Originally fixed for May 1 at Beck Lane, Littletown, the league will now have to reschedule them into an already hectic last few weeks.

Next Saturday's Division Two Cup final will have to find a new date as the semi-final between Crag Road United and Hunsworth was postponed for a second successive Saturday.
