Castleford Panthers 12 Keighley Cats 18 - Keighley's first match back after several cancelled matches due to bad weather proved to be as tough as expected.

The opening minutes were fast and furious. A delayed pass from Laura Ackroyd to Sara Gatenby saw Sara dive over to score out wide, not converted. Castleford didnt take long to reply and with a quick switch of play dived over to score a try but no conversion. The Cats fought back and led by Angie Pickard pushed up field. Saima Hussain back on top orm side stepped the Panthers to score , not converted.

The Panthers pushed again and again scored with a switch of play.

The first half scores 8 8 .

With the score line equal Keighley dug deep. Some dubious decisions and a disallowed try left both teams frustrated. From a dropped ball in open play , laura Ackroyd managed to pass to saima Hussain who scored her second of the match, not converted. As Keighley celebrated Castleford found a gap in the Keighley line and scored a try with no kick. Time running out Keighley didnt give up . A neat kick on fifth from Laura Ackroyd to Sarah Shillito then passed back to Laura saw Keighley score the winning try , convertd also by Laura Ackroyd. When the final whistle blew the Cats came out on top.

Castlefoed 12 Keighley 18. A tough game for all players but ended in a well deserved win. Keighley face Hillside Hawks at Marley on Sunday (2pm).

Angie Pickard was player of the match and the woman of steel award was shared by Saima Hussain and Laura Ackroyd.
